Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan on Monday rejected allegations that Thaveka is involved in “horse-trading”, saying the party is not engaging in any such activity.
He claimed that people are joining after understanding Chief Minister Vijay’s actions, and argued that the public already knows who had resorted to political bargaining in the past. He also referred to remarks about forming a government with DMK support, without naming individuals directly.
On resignations, Sengottaiyan said it is a personal decision and cannot be dictated by others. He questioned why the DMK, which had earlier spoken of giving six months’ time, is now criticising.
He sought time to address law-and-order issues, stating that the Chief Minister has taken swift action when crimes occur and that the police have initiated strict measures.
Turning to internal party matters, Sengottaiyan alleged that there is no democracy in the AIADMK and criticised a former chief minister for holding an appreciation meeting without displaying the images of MGR and Jayalalithaa.
