An Indian-origin woman was shot dead in the US state of Virginia while working at a department store, according to local reports.
Police rushed to the spot after receiving information, cordoned off the area and began an investigation. The victim was identified as Meghnaben Patel, who hailed from Gujarat.
She had been working at the store for the past 10 years. She is survived by her husband Upendrabhai Patel, daughter Nakshi and son Smith.
Investigators said the shooting occurred when she tried to prevent a robbery attempt at the store. The accused has been arrested, and police are examining whether there was any other motive behind the incident.
