Alappuzha: A shocking incident has been reported from Kerala, where a 19-year-old woman allegedly delivered a baby inside a government hospital toilet and threw the newborn out through a window.
According to reports, the woman was admitted to the government hospital in Harippad area of Alappuzha district after complaining of stomach pain. Doctors grew suspicious that she could be pregnant after she refused to undergo a physical examination.
While under observation, she went to the toilet early morning. Soon after, staff heard a baby’s cry from the toilet area, and street dogs were reportedly making loud noises behind the building.
Hospital staff rushed to the rear side and found a newborn baby girl abandoned there. The infant was rescued and admitted to the intensive care unit, with staff saying timely intervention helped save the baby’s life.
It is alleged that the woman, who is unmarried, threw the baby through the toilet window after delivery. Both the mother and the newborn were later shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Alappuzha for continued treatment, while police have registered a case under multiple sections and are investigating.
