Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said he is pleased at the prospect of welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Australia soon on an official visit.
Speaking in the Australian Parliament, Albanese noted that his two visits to India as prime minister had been an honour, and said he is now looking forward to hosting Modi in Australia again.
He said the visit is expected to be significant for the Indian-Australian community, and pointed to India’s status as the world’s most populous country.
Albanese also highlighted that economic ties between Australia and India have improved through a trade agreement, adding that the two countries are connected through culture and education. Members of Parliament welcomed the announcement with applause.
