New Delhi: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday said he would take responsibility for the difficulties faced by students in the ongoing CBSE examination-related issue.

Speaking to reporters after a consultation meeting in Delhi, Pradhan said the CBSE had already issued an explanation on the matter. He added that if any irregularities are detected, those responsible would not be spared.

The minister also appealed that this was not the time for political sparring, stressing that the priority should be to ensure students and candidates do not face additional stress. He urged that words or actions from any side should not worsen the pressure on students.

Background to the issue: CBSE Class 12 answer sheets were evaluated digitally this year. After several students and parents questioned lower-than-expected marks, many attempted to apply for scanned copies to see where marks were reduced. During this process, the CBSE website reportedly went down, causing problems for students. The Centre directed IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur to address the issue.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi had commented that irregularities in CBSE results were not just a mistake but a “planned conspiracy”, according to the report.
