Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay on Tuesday urged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to allocate funds for key infrastructure projects in the state, including railways, highways and metro rail proposals.

The Chief Minister, who is on a visit to New Delhi, earlier met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and submitted a petition outlining issues related to Tamil Nadu’s welfare.

Following that meeting, Vijay called on Sitharaman and raised the need for prioritised funding to accelerate the state’s development. He sought support for projects such as ports, highways, railway works and industrial corridors.

He also requested the establishment of nationally important educational institutions and asked for financial allocation to implement metro rail projects aimed at improving public transport in Hosur, Coimbatore and Madurai.
