New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday urged states to resolve inter-state water disputes through cooperation and coordinated action.

Chairing a PRAGATI meeting via video conference, the Prime Minister held a direct review with Union government secretaries and chief secretaries of states. PRAGATI is an integrated, multi-purpose governance platform launched by the Centre in 2015.

During the meeting, seven key infrastructure projects spanning railways, power and roads—together valued at about Rs 30,000 crore and covering nine states—were reviewed. Modi said delays in implementation not only push up costs but also prevent people from receiving essential facilities on time.

He also called on states to address water-related disputes by ensuring timely approvals and adopting technology-driven monitoring mechanisms to speed up resolution.
