Kolkata: Trinamool Congress MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar has resigned from all her party responsibilities, including posts such as district in-charge and women’s wing roles.
In a separate development, she has submitted a written complaint to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla against TMC MP and party whip Kalyan Banerjee. Dastidar alleged that Banerjee behaved with hostility towards her in Parliament and acted in a manner she described as insulting.
According to her complaint, she said the conduct and words used were hurtful and humiliating, and that she was treated disrespectfully despite being a woman MP. She urged the Speaker to take strict action.
The episode comes amid heightened political churn in West Bengal following the recent Assembly election results and reports that several TMC legislators and MPs may be ready to join the BJP, adding to the tension within the party.
