Tamil Nadu Rural Development Minister Anand has directed officials to ensure that every work carried out through the Rural Development Department is properly video-recorded and stored on a pen drive before bill payments are released.

The instruction was issued at a department review meeting held at Panagal Maligai in Saidapet, Chennai, chaired by the minister. Department Secretary Prashant Wadnere and Commissioner Ponnaiya were among those who attended.

The minister noted that multiple schemes are being implemented through the department, including rural housing, the National Rural Employment Guarantee programme, construction of roads and bridges, Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat. He urged officials to work collectively to improve rural living standards.

Emphasising execution, he asked officials to avoid delays, maintain quality without compromise and complete works within the stipulated time. He also underlined that wages under the employment guarantee scheme must be paid to workers on time.

As part of tightening procedures, he said bill amounts should be disbursed only after the work is documented through video and the recording is saved on a pen drive.
