New Delhi: Union Minister Suresh Gopi said Chief Minister Vijay called him by phone after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi.

Vijay, who recently took charge as chief minister, travelled to Delhi for the first time in the role on Tuesday. During the visit, he met Prime Minister Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

After holding discussions with officials on Wednesday, Vijay returned to Tamil Nadu.

In a statement, Suresh Gopi said the two leaders exchanged greetings and expressed a shared commitment to work together for the country’s progress and for the development of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

He added that they reaffirmed the idea of strengthening unity through cooperation.
