A complaint has surfaced that a DMK functionary behaved inappropriately with a woman member during the party’s field review committee meetings held to examine the reasons for its Assembly election defeat.
According to a party functionary, the DMK formed a 36-member field review committee to study the loss. In some constituencies across Madurai and Sivaganga districts, the meetings reportedly turned tense, with arguments between rival groups escalating into factional clashes.
The source said a former minister’s son—who was not given a ticket in the election—was nevertheless invited to the review meeting, where complaints were raised about his father’s functioning. He was said to be unable to either accept or deny the allegations.
It was also alleged that, as many committee members are young, they bring only their supporters and conduct questioning in a manner that makes candidates appear like accused persons, triggering confrontations. The functionary further claimed that complaints meant for the party headquarters were not being properly received, and that petitions were even discarded.
Meanwhile, the deadline for submitting the field review committee’s report has been extended from June 5 to June 10, the source said.
