The war between the United States and Iran has entered its 90th day, with a temporary ceasefire currently in place. However, uncertainty over a formal agreement continues to cloud prospects for an end to the conflict.

Efforts are under way to hold peace talks covering issues such as reopening the Strait of Hormuz and discussions linked to a nuclear agreement. Negotiations have remained stalled as both sides are said to be insisting on strict conditions.

Despite the ceasefire arrangement, the US carried out strikes on Iran for a second consecutive day, according to reports. Iran, in response, attacked a US military base in West Asia and warned that its retaliation could intensify.

In this backdrop, reports said a 60-day temporary ceasefire understanding and a framework for fresh nuclear negotiations have been finalised by the negotiating teams. But President Donald Trump has not given his approval and is said to have rejected it, raising fresh doubts over whether the war will end soon.
