DK Shivakumar will be sworn in as Karnataka’s new Chief Minister on June 3, according to Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee working president GC Chandrasekhar.
The announcement comes after the Congress’ internal power tussle in the state was said to have been resolved. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has resigned, and Shivakumar is being formally elected as the Congress Legislature Party leader.
Chandrasekhar said the oath-taking will be held at Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru. He added that the venue was chosen to minimise inconvenience to the public.
The party has appealed to its workers to avoid coming to the venue in person. No entry passes will be issued, and only a limited number of invitations have been printed for MLAs, as the event is planned to be conducted in a simple manner.
Chandrasekhar also said Shivakumar will later visit districts to meet party workers and the public to express his gratitude.
