Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said the Indian Navy played a decisive role during “Operation Sindoor”, claiming it effectively kept Pakistan’s naval forces confined within their ports.

He was speaking in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, after inaugurating a Navy memorial park. Recalling last year’s terror attack in Pahalgam, Singh said the incident led to nationwide anger and prompted a coordinated response by India’s three armed services.

According to the minister, the armed forces carried out precise strikes that destroyed terrorist infrastructure located in Pakistan. He said the Army and the Air Force executed their responsibilities effectively during the operation.

Singh underlined that the Navy’s contribution was equally significant, stating that Indian naval assets were deployed in the Arabian Sea at full strength and in a high state of readiness. He added that this posture ensured Pakistan’s naval forces remained restricted to their harbours.

During his remarks, Singh also said the newly inaugurated park is expected to develop into a tourist destination in the future.
