New Delhi: Karnataka Chief Minister-designate D.K. Shivakumar has topped the list of India’s richest chief ministers with declared assets of Rs 1,413 crore, according to an analysis by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).

The report is based on the asset disclosures filed by candidates in their election affidavits. Shivakumar is set to take oath as chief minister on June 3, following Siddaramaiah’s resignation from the post.

ADR’s figures show Shivakumar’s immovable assets at Rs 1,140 crore and movable assets at Rs 273 crore. The affidavit also lists liabilities of Rs 265 crore.

In the same ranking, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is placed second with assets of Rs 931 crore, while Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay is third with Rs 648 crore. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu is fourth with assets of Rs 332 crore.

The report notes that a large portion of Shivakumar’s wealth is linked to ancestral land holdings and investments, with properties in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Kanakapura and Delhi, and a commercial complex in Bengaluru’s Gopalapura. ADR also cited a separate list of wealthy MLAs, where AIADMK MLA Leema Rose is ranked first with declared assets of Rs 5,863 crore, followed by Maharashtra MLA Parag Singh with Rs 3,383 crore; Shivakumar also features in that MLA list.
