IUML leader Kader Mohideen has said his party had warned the DMK in advance that the political situation in Kolathur was not favorable during the Assembly election period.
Speaking in Cuddalore, he said the IUML remained part of the DMK-led alliance during the election. He noted that the party’s women’s wing carried out door-to-door outreach in the constituency to seek votes.
According to him, women volunteers reported back that the mood in many households appeared different from what the alliance expected. He said they sensed a shift in conversations among women voters and raised doubts about whether votes would go as anticipated.
Mohideen said the IUML conveyed these observations to DMK circles at the time, but he did not know what steps were taken in response. He added that only after the results did it become clear that voters had backed a “big change,” as reflected in the outcome.
