Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi and also called on Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The meeting with the Prime Minister was brief, but multiple issues were discussed, according to reports.
During the interaction, Modi congratulated Vijay on his electoral success and offered guidance for the new administration. He suggested that since the Chief Minister and most ministers are new, the government should hold coordination and orientation meetings to help the cabinet understand how the administration functions.
Modi also cautioned Vijay to be careful while speaking to journalists or unfamiliar individuals. He reportedly warned that conversations could be secretly recorded and used to trap leaders, and asked that the message be conveyed to ministers and MLAs to work with heightened vigilance.
The Prime Minister also said that the “Aanaimangal copper plates” would be sent to Tamil Nadu soon and that related work was under way. Reports added that Modi appreciated Vijay’s calm and measured approach, including his habit of thinking before responding.
