New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged people to take extra care as temperatures rise sharply in many parts of the country.
Speaking on his radio programme Mann Ki Baat, Modi advised citizens to ensure they remain hydrated and to step out in the sun only after taking necessary precautions. He said heightened alertness is essential during severe heat.
The Prime Minister also spoke about a recent visit to the Netherlands, where Chola-era copper plates were handed back to India at a special event attended by the Dutch Prime Minister. He said the development has sparked pride and excitement, including among Tamils worldwide.
According to Modi, the Netherlands held 21 large and three small copper plates linked to the Chola kings, and the Anai Mangalam plates have now been returned. He noted that the inscriptions reflect the Cholas’ maritime strength and their ties with Southeast Asian countries.
In the broadcast, Modi praised mango farmers for their contribution to the agricultural economy and extended congratulations to athletes who set new records at the National Senior Athletics Championships in Ranchi, Jharkhand. He also encouraged people to recognise and learn from those doing social service and, if possible, take up such work themselves.
