Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Tamil Nadu teacher Grija during his Mann Ki Baat address, recalling a recent meeting with her in Nagercoil.

Modi said he had met Grija nearly 30 years ago as well, and noted that several young students were with her during the latest interaction. He said she currently manages around 15 schools, including a prominent institution in Chennai.

According to the Prime Minister, Grija drew inspiration from Mann Ki Baat and resolved to contribute to the welfare of the nation’s soldiers. She encouraged students across her schools to participate in the effort.

Modi said Grija asked each child to contribute Re 1 every day, amounting to Rs 365 per student in a year. Through this initiative, nearly Rs 40 lakh was collected, and she handed over a cheque for the full amount to him.

He added that his conversation with her reflected the depth of her patriotism, calling it an inspiration for every Indian.
