Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and submitted a petition outlining a set of demands, according to reports.
The petition is said to have included requests for financial assistance for welfare schemes, along with points related to the Mekedatu dam issue.
Following the meeting, Modi reportedly instructed his second Principal Secretary, Shaktikanta Das, to study the petitions and send a note on what steps the Union government could take to support the Tamil Nadu government.
Das, a senior retired IAS officer from the Tamil Nadu cadre and a former RBI Governor, currently serves as the PM’s second Principal Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office. Reports also said Cabinet Secretary T.V. Somanathan, who is from Tamil Nadu, met Vijay.
Vijay also met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at her office to discuss financial assistance for the state. Several people, including Tamil officials working in the ministry, reportedly took selfies with the Chief Minister.
