The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on May 31 said it carried out coordinated searches at 19 locations across Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka in connection with an explosives seizure case.
According to the agency, a truck that was stopped in Malappuram earlier this year led to the recovery of large quantities of explosives, including 89,600 gelatin sticks packed in 448 boxes and 10,500 non-electric detonators stored in 35 boxes.
The NIA said it took over the case in April, alleging that the explosives were intended for unlawful activities, and arrested six people as part of the investigation.
The latest searches covered the residences of suspects as well as premises linked to explosives dealers and manufacturers. The agency said it seized various digital devices, documents and materials, including gelatin sticks, during the operation.
