Bengaluru successfully defended their Premier League cricket title, beating Gujarat by five wickets in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Virat Kohli starred in the chase with a match-winning 75.
After winning the toss, Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar chose to bowl. Gujarat’s top order faltered early as Shubman Gill (10) and Sai Sudharsan (12) departed inside four overs, leaving the side struggling at 26/2 and then 55/3.
Washington Sundar fought back with a 37-ball half-century, but wickets kept falling at the other end. Gujarat finished on 155/8 in 20 overs, with Sundar unbeaten on 50.
In reply, Kohli and Venkatesh Iyer provided a brisk start before Bengaluru slipped to 91/4. Kohli steadied the chase, reached his fifty in 25 balls, and stayed in control through the finish as Bengaluru reached 161/5 in 18 overs, with Jitesh Sharma unbeaten on 11.
Bengaluru received a prize of Rs 20 crore, while runners-up Gujarat earned Rs 13 crore. The win made Bengaluru the third team to claim back-to-back titles, after Chennai (2010, 2011) and Mumbai (2019, 2020).
