Chief Minister Vijay arrived in Tiruchirappalli on Sunday to thank voters of the Trichy East Assembly constituency. Supporters gathered along the route from the airport and greeted him as he travelled by road.
Vijay flew from Chennai to Trichy in a special flight and was received by officials, including the Central Zone Inspector General. Trichy MP Durai Vaiko, also the general secretary of the MDMK, welcomed him as well.
The report recalled that in the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly election, the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam contested 233 seats, with party leader Vijay contesting from Chennai Perambur and Trichy East. He won in both constituencies and later resigned the Trichy East MLA post after the results.
Vijay is scheduled to address a thanksgiving public meeting at 4.15 pm at the St Joseph’s College campus near Chathiram bus stand. Party leadership said only 5,000 people with QR-coded entry passes will be allowed, and others have been asked not to attend.
Dinamalar said the visit was livestreamed on its website and social media pages.
