Trichy MP Durai Vaiko, son of MDMK general secretary Vaiko, welcomed Chief Minister Vijay during the CM’s visit to Tiruchirappalli.
Speaking to reporters, Durai Vaiko said he greeted the Chief Minister because he is the Member of Parliament for the constituency. He added that the visit did not provide an opportunity to submit constituency-related petitions, but he would raise requests when he meets the Chief Minister again and inform the media.
He said many development initiatives require both the Union government’s cooperation and the state government’s support, expressing hope that the state would extend cooperation for such projects.
On governance, he noted that transfers of officials typically follow a new government taking charge and said new officers should be given time. While changes can be initiated quickly, he said meaningful change may take months.
On law and order, he said crimes cannot be prevented 100% even in developed countries, but stressed that delays should not occur in registering cases and arresting offenders. He also commented that election promises should be implemented over time, and said a party general council meeting has been called on June 27 to decide, after discussions with functionaries, whether to continue in the alliance.
