Five new judges have been appointed to the Supreme Court, according to notifications issued by the Department of Justice under the Union Law Ministry. The newly elevated judges are scheduled to assume office on Monday.

Those appointed include senior advocate Venkita Subramani Mohana, Bombay High Court Chief Justice Sree Chandrasekhar, Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Sheel Nagu, Madhya Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, and Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court Chief Justice Arun Palli.

With these appointments, the Supreme Court’s strength has risen to 37 judges. The court now has only one vacancy remaining.

The oath-taking ceremony is set for 10.30 am on Monday, and Chief Justice Suryakant will administer the oath. Chief Minister Vijay extended his congratulations to Justice Mohana ahead of the swearing-in.
