A helicopter crash in the US state of Georgia has left a family in shock after an Indian-origin man died just hours after his wedding.
The victim, Dave Piji, originally from Kerala, worked as a pilot with Delta Air Lines. He married Jesny, a nurse, on May 29 at a venue called “The River” in Dawsonville.
After the reception, the couple boarded a helicopter to travel to Atlanta. Soon after take-off, the aircraft crashed into a dense forest area and broke apart. Dave Piji and the helicopter pilot were killed, while Jesny survived with severe injuries.
According to Dave’s father, George Piji, Dave had warned the pilot about poor weather and near-zero visibility, urging that they should not fly in such conditions. The US National Transportation Safety Board has launched a detailed investigation into the crash.
