The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast heavy rainfall in 22 districts of Tamil Nadu on Monday (June 2).

The districts likely to receive heavy rain include Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Theni, Karur, Namakkal, Erode, Salem, Tiruchirappalli, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Kanniyakumari.

For Sunday (June 1), the Met Centre said heavy rain is likely in 21 districts—covering the same list as June 2, except Thoothukudi.

The outlook also indicates heavy rain chances on June 3 and 4 in Tirunelveli, Kanniyakumari, Erode, Namakkal, Salem, Dharmapuri, Tiruvannamalai, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Vellore and Ranipet. On June 5, heavy rain is likely in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni, Tenkasi and Tirunelveli.

The Met Centre added that light to moderate rain may occur at a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry from June 1 to June 7. Maximum temperatures could be up to 2°C above normal at one or two places, while coastal Tamil Nadu, the Gulf of Mannar and the Kumari Sea may see squally winds of 40–50 kmph.
