Minister Nirmal Kumar on Monday asserted that bribes would never be accepted for government appointments and that recruitment would follow only the merit system.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat in Chennai, he said the appointment of government advocates would be carried out transparently and strictly based on eligibility. He added that selections would not be made on the basis of money or recommendations.
The minister said appointments made by taking money from ineligible candidates would not be allowed going forward, reiterating that there would be no scope for bribery in the process.
On the Mekedatu issue, he said the government would take all efforts to legally prevent the construction of a dam and would not allow a dam to be built across the Cauvery.
He also claimed that the AIADMK split occurred due to attempts to form an alliance with the DMK, and said AIADMK members were moving to TAVEK. He added that TAVEK did not need to bargain and that its government was strong with the support of allied parties.
