Chief Minister Vijay is set to visit Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) on Sunday to thank voters in the Trichy East Assembly constituency.
In the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly election, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) contested 233 seats. Vijay, the party leader, contested from Chennai’s Perambur and Trichy East and won in both constituencies. After the results, he resigned the Trichy East MLA post.
According to the schedule, Vijay will fly from Chennai airport to Trichy in a special aircraft. He is expected to address a thanksgiving public meeting at 4.15 pm near the Chathiram bus stand, at the St Joseph’s College campus.
Party sources said entry will be restricted to 5,000 people who have QR-coded passes, and others have been asked not to attend. It is also reported that Vijay may visit the St Antony’s Church to fulfil a vow made during the campaign.
Ahead of the visit, Trichy Collector Pradeep Dayal has imposed a ban on flying drones within the city on security grounds, warning of legal action against violators.
