Chennai: Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai left for Delhi on Sunday evening to meet the party’s national leadership.

Reports had been circulating that Annamalai was unhappy after not being given any position in the party and was considering starting a separate political outfit. In this backdrop, the BJP’s Delhi leadership reportedly called him for discussions.

Annamalai departed from Chennai by flight around 5 pm to meet BJP national president Nitin Nabin and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

He usually travels in a vehicle bearing the BJP flag, but when he arrived at Chennai airport on Sunday, his car did not have the party flag.

When reporters asked whether he was planning to form a new party, Annamalai said he would respond to everything within two days and left.
