Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Secretary Srinivasan has submitted his resignation from the post, sources said.

Srinivasan was due to retire in 2023, but was granted a three-year service extension. Even though the extension period was still in force, he has now chosen to step down and has handed over a formal resignation letter to the Speaker.

He is said to have over 30 years of experience in Assembly-related work, with about three months remaining in his current tenure.

Srinivasan has been serving as Assembly Secretary since 2018 and continued in the same role during the tenures of former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. The reasons behind his resignation have not been made public.
