BENGALURU: A brief stir broke out on Old Airport Road after a motorist staged a sit-in protest against traffic being stopped for the movement of Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot.

The Governor arrived at HAL airport on Monday morning after flying in from Mangaluru. Police implemented a “zero traffic” arrangement to ensure the Governor’s convoy could travel to Raj Bhavan without interruption.

As part of the arrangement, traffic police held vehicles for more than half an hour on Old Airport Road. Frustrated by the delay, one man got out of his car and sat on the road, demanding an explanation.

According to police at the spot, the protester questioned why traffic was stopped even before the Governor’s aircraft landed and said his pregnant wife was waiting inside the car. Security personnel persuaded him to move away as the convoy approached and later warned him not to repeat such actions.

Bystanders recorded the incident on mobile phones, and the video has since circulated on social media, drawing supportive comments for the protester from some users.
