Anti-corruption police on Wednesday conducted simultaneous surprise raids at deed registration (sub-registrar) offices across Tamil Nadu. Officials said checks were under way in 60 offices in multiple districts.

In Mayiladuthurai, the district sub-registrar office on Kacheri Road was searched with the premises kept closed during the operation. Officials also questioned more than 30 members of the public who had come for registration work.

Raids were also reported at the deed registration office on the Virudhunagar–Madurai Road, and at the Sattur office. In Coimbatore, teams inspected the Thondamuthur and Gandhipuram sub-registrar offices.

In Tirunelveli, a raid at the Vikramasingapuram registration office was led by an Additional Superintendent of Police. During the search, officials said unaccounted cash amounting to lakhs of rupees was recovered, and raids were continuing at three sub-registrar offices in the district.

Similar surprise checks were also carried out at offices in Dharmapuri and at the Bodi sub-registrar office in Theni district, as the statewide operation continued.
