Senior DMK functionaries have claimed that Opposition Leader Udhayanidhi is planning a new political approach modeled on Chief Minister Vijay’s style, with fewer public engagements and limited statements.

According to them, when Vijay launched the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), he focused on weekend tours and issued statements against the ruling side only occasionally. Despite that restrained approach, TVK went on to win the Assembly election.

The DMK leaders said Udhayanidhi is now considering attending one party programme a week and restricting himself to two statements per week. They pointed to the recent Trichy meeting, where Vijay sharply attacked the DMK, but the party’s response came through former MLA Ezhilan and MP Raja, rather than from Udhayanidhi.

The seniors cautioned that relying on second-rung leaders to respond may not reach the public effectively. They argued that as Opposition Leader, Udhayanidhi should intensify his outreach and proceed with planned tours, saying only sustained day-to-day political engagement can help the DMK recover from defeat.
