Former BJP Tamil Nadu president K. Annamalai is expected to make an official announcement today on his decision to launch a separate political party.

According to reports, Annamalai has been in Delhi for the past few days and has held discussions with senior BJP functionaries. He is said to have met B.L. Santhosh to consult on his next steps.

Sources also claim he met BJP national president J.P. Nadda and conveyed his intention to leave the party, submitting a related letter. He reportedly met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence and spoke about quitting the BJP and starting a new movement, seeking his blessings.

There was speculation that Annamalai would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on June 4, but the meeting did not take place.

In a social media post, Annamalai said he would connect with the public around 12 noon today via social platforms to share his views and have an open conversation.
