Former BJP Tamil Nadu president K. Annamalai has launched a new political outfit under the banner “We the Leaders”, after the party leadership accepted his resignation.
Announcing the move, Annamalai said he wanted to begin with a “new path” and a “new dimension”. He also stated that his party would contest the next general election in Tamil Nadu, and that there was no change in that plan.
Membership enrolment for the new movement has seen a rapid response. According to figures shared by the organisers, 1.10 lakh people registered within the first hour of the launch.
By 4 pm on June 5, the total number of registrations had risen to 5,25,143, indicating strong early traction, particularly among youth and supporters, the report said.
