Chief Minister Vijay has directed officials to take firm steps to prevent illegal mineral smuggling and to improve the state’s mineral revenue.
The instructions were issued during a review meeting at the Secretariat in Chennai, where the Chief Minister discussed measures related to curbing mineral smuggling.
Ministers Anand, Prabhu and Maria Wilson attended the meeting, along with Chief Secretary Saikumar and senior officials including Finance Secretary Siddiq, Water Resources Secretary Sathyaprathasahu and Natural Resources Department Secretary Suntsongam Jadak Siru.
Also present were Saravanavelraj, Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Minerals Corporation, and Mohan, Director of the Geology and Mining Department, among others.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister stressed that minerals should be extracted and used in a regulated manner to support sustainable development, while ensuring that illegal transportation and smuggling are effectively prevented.
