Chennai: Latha Rajinikanth, wife of actor Rajinikanth, has launched a separate movement named ‘Makkal Medai’ (People’s Platform).

In an Instagram post, she described it as a people-driven initiative aimed at Tamil Nadu’s growth and public welfare. She said the platform would encourage citizens to contribute constructive ideas, experience and skills for public service.

Latha invited a wide range of participants—including government officials, teachers, retired senior citizens and youth—who wish to be part of positive change. She urged people to come together and build a strong collective force to carry out meaningful work.

She also shared contact details for those interested in joining: mobile 7550080515 and email [email protected].

The announcement comes in the backdrop of Rajinikanth’s 2020 decision to enter politics and launch a party, a plan he later dropped. The report also noted that Latha’s launch coincided with the day former BJP leader Annamalai announced he had quit the party and would form a new organisation to contest the next general election.
