Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said the Central government is committed to preventing illegal infiltration and the “unnatural” demographic changes it can trigger in border states such as Tripura and Bihar.
He made the remarks while addressing Border Security Force (BSF) personnel at the Langamara check post along the India–Bangladesh border in Tripura. Shah said the Tripura border is important and asserted that such demographic changes would not be permitted.
Calling it an “unshakable resolve,” he reiterated that the government would act to stop illegal entry and its impact on population patterns in border regions.
During the visit, Shah planted a sapling and interacted with BSF personnel. He appreciated the troops for protecting and maintaining saplings, and urged greater tree planting, saying it should be a shared responsibility beyond government programmes.
