Chennai: Former BJP Tamil Nadu president K Annamalai said membership in his newly launched ‘We the Leaders’ movement has crossed 13.5 lakh, with registrations coming in over the past 24 hours through wetheleader.org.
Annamalai recently announced his resignation as state BJP chief, and said the party leadership has accepted it. He also said he wanted to begin a “new path” with a new movement and a fresh perspective.
On June 5, he launched the new outfit under the name ‘We the Leaders’. He added that his party would contest the next general election in Tamil Nadu and that there was no change in that plan.
In a social media post, Annamalai thanked those who joined and said the response had given him both emotion and a greater sense of responsibility. He stressed that it was not a one-man journey, but a collective effort of people seeking positive change.
He urged supporters to stay connected with the initiative and said the journey would be carried forward with sincerity and dedication for a better future for Tamil Nadu.
