Chennai: K Annamalai has written to the Union Home Ministry stating that he does not require Z+ security cover and requesting that it be withdrawn.
According to the report, Annamalai has stepped down from his role as a primary member of the BJP and is engaged in preparatory work to launch a new political party. He has also initiated a movement called “Idhu Namma Iyakkam”, which he said has attracted a large number of people.
During his tenure as BJP’s state president, Annamalai was provided Z+ category security with armed personnel by the Central government. After leaving the party, he has concluded that such high-level protection is no longer necessary for him.
In his letter, he sought immediate removal of the Z+ security arrangement. It is expected that the Union Home Ministry will withdraw the cover soon after considering his request.
