The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has filed a complaint with Delhi Police alleging repeated cyber attacks on its website used for Class 12 answer-sheet verification and re-evaluation.
CBSE said more than 18.5 lakh students appeared for this year’s Class 12 examinations. The answer sheets were evaluated through the OSM (On-Screen Marking) system, a computer-based method.
After results were announced, many students and parents complained that scores were below expectations. CBSE subsequently uploaded evaluated answer sheets online and allowed students to seek re-evaluation, amid allegations that some pages were unclear or that certain responses were not fully uploaded.
According to the complaint, the attacks intensified in recent days and began within hours of the portal being opened for services such as marks verification and re-evaluation. CBSE reported unusually high traffic, including 15 lakh visits within two minutes, over one lakh unauthorised attempts to access files, and 38 lakh malicious data packets aimed at disrupting the site’s infrastructure.
CBSE stated that the attempts were successfully blocked and that exam records and student data remain secure. Delhi Police have registered a case and are investigating.
