India have appointed Shreyas Iyer as captain of the T20 side for the upcoming white-ball assignments in Ireland and England. The squads were announced in Mumbai on Friday.

The team will tour Ireland for a two-match T20 series on June 26 and 28. India will then travel to England for a five-match T20 series on July 1, 4, 7, 9 and 11, followed by three ODIs on July 14, 16 and 19.

A major highlight of the selection was the inclusion of 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who has been picked in the T20 squad. The teenager is now the youngest player to be selected for India, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar, who made the national team at 16.

India’s T20 squad for the Ireland and England series includes: Shreyas Iyer (captain), Tilak Varma, Ravi Bishnoi, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Reddy, Mohammed Siraj, Sanju Samson, Axar Patel, Harshit Rana, Ishan Kishan, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Shivam Dube, Varun Chakravarthy, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Prince Yadav.

Separately, India’s squad for the Asian Games in Japan (September 19 to October 4) was also announced, with Sooryavanshi included in that list as well.
