Chennai: An editorial published in DMK’s party daily Murasoli has launched a sharp attack on Lok Sabha Opposition Leader and former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, using harsh language and accusing him of undermining trust within the alliance.

The article claims DMK cadres were hurt by what it described as Congress’ “betrayal” after the Assembly election. It says DMK has taken a “historic decision” not to participate in the INDIA bloc meeting scheduled in Delhi, arguing the circumstances leading to the decision were created by Congress.

According to the editorial, Rahul Gandhi’s “arrogant” and “unilateral” actions were central to the fallout. It alleges he worked against DMK while remaining in the alliance, and argues similar patterns seen in other states are now playing out in Tamil Nadu.

The piece cites multiple incidents to support its charge of “double standards,” including a past episode in Parliament involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and references to political developments in Bihar. It also points to the recent Assembly election campaign, alleging Rahul did not share a platform with Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and highlighting claims about Congress candidates in Puducherry.

The editorial further questions remarks made during the campaign by current Chief Minister Vijay about money and Congress support, and raises queries about what Congress gained in return, including a Rajya Sabha MP post. It ends by criticising Congress leaders for continuing to claim DMK remains part of the INDIA alliance.
