Washington: Chennai-born Sriram Krishnan, who has been advising President Donald Trump on artificial intelligence, has announced that he will step down from his White House role at the end of this month.

In a post on social media, Krishnan said he would take a short break and then work on efforts aimed at addressing key challenges the United States faces in the AI sector. He also said it was a privilege to have served the American public.

Krishnan expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work under Trump’s leadership, saying it helped the US stay at the forefront of competition in artificial intelligence. He also thanked colleagues he worked with during his tenure.

Krishnan was born in Chennai and completed his engineering degree at SRM University in Kattankulathur, Kancheepuram district. He has worked in major technology companies including Microsoft, Facebook, Yahoo, Snapchat and X.

He served in the Trump administration for the past 18 months and played a key role in shaping the national AI policy and the US AI action plan, according to the report.
