India and the United States are likely to finalise an interim trade agreement by July, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has said.
Speaking on the progress of talks, Goyal expressed confidence that the deal could be concluded by the end of July. He added that the first phase of the agreement may even be signed in the early part of the month.
The minister noted that the interim arrangement is expected to come ahead of a permanent trade agreement between the two countries. Recent discussions on the proposed deal were held in New Delhi.
Goyal described the India–US trade pact as a long-awaited agreement, indicating that both sides are working to move the process forward within the stated timeline.
