A powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck the Mindanao island region of the Philippines, pushing the reported death toll to 19, according to officials. More than 134 people have been injured.

Following the quake, tsunami warnings were issued for both the Philippines and Indonesia. Several buildings reportedly collapsed or suffered damage, prompting emergency teams to begin rescue operations in affected areas.

Authorities said 16 deaths were recorded in the Soccsksargen area, while three were reported from the Davao region. Officials also reported that 12 people remain missing.

The earthquake caused widespread disruption, with more than 6,000 school buildings damaged and flight services cancelled. Photos and videos related to the quake have been circulating on social media.
