Stalin raises doubts over government’s stability

Chennai: DMK president M.K. Stalin on Sunday questioned the durability of the current Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government, asking whether it would “last even three months.”

He made the remarks at an event where more than 1,000 people joined the DMK in his presence. The entrants included functionaries from various parties, led by former MLA Panaiyur Babu.

In his address, Stalin said the DMK is prepared to work harder when it is in the opposition, and that the party remains ready for such a role.

Referring to the present administration, he said he had earlier decided not to speak about the new government for six months after it took office. However, he added that circumstances and public criticism appeared to be building sooner than expected.

Stalin said the situation had reached a point where questions were being raised not about six months or five months, but whether the government could sustain itself for even three months.
