Minister Arunraj on Monday said his party, TAVEK, is ready to face elections if the government is dissolved, and challenged the DMK to say whether it is prepared for a poll.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Arunraj was responding to a question about DMK leader M.K. Stalin’s remark that the government could fall within six months. Arunraj said that if such a situation were to arise, his side would be ready to go to the people.

At the same time, he dismissed the likelihood of an early collapse and asserted that the government would continue for the full five-year term.

Arunraj also took aim at election spending, claiming his party does not have money power. He alleged that while his side had spent amounts such as Rs 5 lakh and Rs 25 lakh to become ministers, the DMK’s spending levels were widely known, and questioned whether the DMK had the confidence to face an election without such backing.
