Virudhunagar: Congress MP Manickam Tagore on Tuesday alleged that attempts were being made to create a “wrong image” about Tamil Nadu Industries Minister Keerthana, linking her South Korea visit and reports about Royal Enfield’s investment moving to Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to reporters after inspecting Amrit Bharat scheme works at the Virudhunagar railway station, Tagore said delays in the project were mainly due to issues in expansion and planning. He added that all works were expected to be completed by January 2027.
He also said that providing a stop for the Vande Bharat train at Virudhunagar would increase reservations. Tagore criticised instructions to obtain unreserved tickets through vending machines and the ‘Rail One’ app, calling it a step towards privatisation of the Railways.
On politics, he said the Congress leading the INDIA alliance would reciprocate respect to parties that value it. He added that the new government had completed 30 days and that Minister Keerthana was making efforts to improve her department.
Tagore further took a swipe at DMK organising secretary R.S. Bharathi, and said policy decisions on the Parandur airport issue would be taken by the current government. He also said the Tamil Nadu government would take strict action against those involved in alleged electricity board corruption and a theft incident at an office.
